Astilleros Canarios (Astican) continues to consolidate itself as a driving force for activity in the Port of Las Palmas, and continues to work for excellence in its activity. Along these lines, it is working on the development of two new innovation projects.
Mixed Realities for Training IN shipyards – MARINA

This innovation project consists of the development of a maintenance system assisted by augmented reality (AR) in real time, recognition of scenes and objects in 3D and with remote interaction capacity and a natural interface managed by voice and / or gestures.

The MARINA system is a tool that will not only allow Astican to train its professionals, both internal and external, but also to retain the knowledge of professionals who have many years of experience.

Currently there are no known or commercial training systems for the ship repair sector, so MARINA will be the first system of these characteristics where virtual reality is incorporated as the main innovative element, using artificial intelligence and vision systems. by computer for authoring techniques to recreate new training and training scenarios.

This project is being carried out with the co-financing of the Center for Industrial Technological Development CDTI, of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The project budget is 1,206,198 euros, of which the grant contributes 794,884.48 euros.

The project to be developed is called “Operations Data Empowered Shipyard” and consists of the development of a vertical intelligence and analytics platform with the fundamental objective of being able to manage and exploit data resulting from all shipyard operations, to decision-making in terms of efficiency, productivity, safety and the environment, which will make it possible to monitor operations in a more dynamic context.
