The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands present in the Galician Offshore International Hub 12 de December de 2021 – Posted in: Sin categoría

The Galician Offshore Energy Group (GOE) of the Association of Metal Industries (Asime), the companies Windar Renovables and Navantia, and the Xunta de Galicia has organized this week the fifth edition of what happens to be the international reference congress on offshore wind in the Iberian Peninsula: Galician Offshore International Hub (GOinterHUB), an event in which the Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands has participated. More than 20 speakers from leading companies, institutions, international associations, and investors analyze the potential of offshore wind at an international level and the current challenges for its promotion and implementation.

The fifth edition of the GOinterHUB international congress brings together in Ferrol entrepreneurs, technicians, and representatives of organizations linked to offshore wind “to value -explain from the GOE- the logistics capabilities of the northwest and business cooperation”. Five sponsors, a dozen special collaborators, and 26 collaborating entities support the organization of this congress, which began with the traditional visit to the facilities of the Navantia-Fene shipyard, followed by a working meeting of the Atlantic Wind Supercluster (SAW), recently launched by GOE-Asime together with the counterpart clusters in Asturias and Cantabria and with the institutional support of the three regional governments.

The opening of the event was in charge of Rafael Outeiral, Vice President of Asime, who stressed that “the future of a decarbonized Europe goes through the marine renewable energy industry”.

In turn, Enrique Mallón, General Secretary of the GOE-Asime, said that “we are in a strategic moment for offshore wind in Spain and specifically in Galicia. It is necessary to accelerate the marine management plans and roadmaps currently under debate to promote this industry with enormous potential, in which Galicia has a lot to say. In this framework, the fifth GOinterHUB is a fundamental meeting point to continue working on consensus and cooperation among all actors in the framework of the decarbonization of Europe and the promotion of economic recovery”.
